No. 1 Star: Dustin Jeffrey, Pittsburgh Penguins
Jeffrey capped off the first multi-game of his career in dramatic fashion potting the overtime winner to give the Penguins a 3-2 win over Boston. David Krejci forced overtime scoring with 33 seconds remaining in the third period, but it was Jeffrey with an individual effort that gave Pittsburgh the extra point:
No. 2 Star: Andrew Ladd, Atlanta Thrashers
The Thrashers' captain continued his career year with two goals and an assist, including the overtime winner to give Atlanta a 4-3 win over Florida. Blake Wheeler also had two goals and Dustin Byfuglien assisted on three of Atlanta's goals, including Ladd's winner:
No. 3 Star: Sam Gagner, Edmonton Oilers
As the Oilers marched to a 4-0 lead against Colorado midway through the second period, Gagner had been a part of three of the four Edmonton goals. His goal and two assists were more than enough as the Oilers breezed by the Avalanche 5-1. Devan Dubnyk made 33 saves and Edmonton cashed in on both of their power play opportunities.
Honorable mention: Jason Pominville's goal snapped a 3-3 tie and Nathan Gerbe's empty-netter sealed things as Buffalo sent Philadelphia to their third straight loss 5-3 ... Entering his 100th NHL game, Andrew MacDonald had just three career goals. He would score two in a 5-2 Islanders victory over the St. Louis Blues this afternoon. P.A. Parenteau and John Tavares each had a goal and assist, while Al Montoya stopped 21 saves for his fifth win ... Jonathan Toews scored for the fifth straight game and extended his points streak to nine games as Chicago got by Toronto 5-3 for their eighth straight win ... Justin Williams scored his first goal in almost a year and Loui Eriksson potted his fourth goal in five games as Dallas ended San Jose's eight-game winning streak with a 3-2 win ... Behind Carey Price's 43 saves and Max Pacioretty's pair of goals, Montreal downed Tampa Bay 4-2 for their fourth straight victory ... Roberto Luongo earned his 300th NHL win with a 21-save performance during a 3-1 Vancouver win over Los Angeles. In the loss, Dustin Penner put home his first goal as a King ... Radim Vrbata scored the only goal in the shootout as Phoenix ended their five-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
Did you know? Mark Recchi played in his 1,636th NHL game, moving him into sixth all-time. (AP)
Dishonorable mention: Florida has now gone winless in 17 of their last 22 games ... Colorado has lost 15 of their last 16 ... Brian Elliott has allowed 14 goals in four games with the Avalanche ... St. Louis is 1-7-0 in their last eight ... San Jose's Jason Demers accidentally popped a linesman as a scrum was being broken up:
Finally, the Kings were not happy about the lack of interference calls on Daniel Sedin and Alex Burrows during what ended up as the game-winning goal:
Terry Murray spoke about the goal to Rich Hammond of Kings.com after the game:
"It's a God-damn shame that that goal is allowed. The guy is in the crease. Quick can't move his stick and Doughty is pushed over the top of our goaltender. It's a God-damn shame that that goal is allowed. It should not be allowed. That's a penalty."
As did Jonathan Quick:
"Maybe if I dive like they do, you get that call, but otherwise I guess you don't. ... I just know that, on the original shot, I'm not allowed to make the save I want to make, because Burrows bumps me. You've got to allow the goaltender to attempt to make the save he's trying to make."
