We've been saying for years that hockey sweaters needed more snakes, skulls and Gaelic iconography ...
This is the Fight Night jersey that the Columbus (Ga.) Cottonmouths will wear in their Southern Professional Hockey League game against the Huntsville Havoc tonight. You might remember the Cottonmouths from earlier this year when they wore checkered jerseys for Race Night.
This is their third annual Fight Night. Last season saw UFC fighter Forrest Griffin make an appearance at the game. On Saturday, it's UFC fighter Josh Koscheck and Alex Karalexis from "The Ultimate Fighter" scheduled to appear for autographs and a special Q&A dinner with the fans.
(Please don't confuse this promotion with "Guaranteed Fight Night," that old minor league hockey tradition that promises a bout during the game. It's the SPHL; a fight is already guaranteed. It just comes down to the magnitude.)
Here's what the back of the jersey looks like:
Are the players also required to compete in oversized sunglasses while wearing Axe body spray and over-gelled hair? We're not sure. But if they're rocking these sweaters, we better see some fist-pumping after goals. Beat dat beat.
With that, we ask:
Pass or Fail: The SPHL Columbus Cottonmouths Fight Night Jerseys.
(Ed. Note: With that, Leahy and I are offline on this Saturday night. Please check the Y! Sports main page for breaking news and the Y! Sports scoreboard for the night's action. Saturday's Three Stars shall publish on Sunday morning.)
