Great play here by Phil Kessel, as he backs off the Penguins defenders before coming to a sudden stop along the half-wall, circling back, then making a savvy pass to Tyler Bozak for the goal.
Unfortunately, Kessel's great play is negated by an even better play by Penguins' defender Zbynek Michalek, who gingerly bumps teammate Marc-Andre Fleury, prompting the officials to wave off the goal.
Okay, that's just ridiculous on so many levels.
First of all, Lupul doesn't even come within a foot of Fleury, so I can't even begin to imagine how the officials could think he had anything to do with this. Second, I've seen goalies bumped by opponents harder than this without getting the goal waved off.
I hate to venture towards hyperbole, but this is the worst call in the history of hockey. Ever.
s/t to Kukla's Korner.
