The Washington Capitals were without Alex Ovechkin, serving a 3-game suspension, and the injured Nicklas Backstrom and Mike Green against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. They needed someone to step up; Mathieu Perreault did just that, tallying his first career hat trick in a 5-3 win.
His reward? A shaving cream pie from his captain Ovechkin, and the searing eye discomfort that accompanied it:
Poor guy. Perreault gets a chance to address the home fans after a career night, and his face looks like someone fired a tear gas canister into a cupcake shop.
As for Ovechkin … that's classic Ovie right there. A fun-loving goofball that knows how to entertain the fans and his teammates. Just the kind of guy you want representing the NHL is its signature midseason event. Sigh … if only his heart had been in it this year…
