Last week, we brought you several NHL sweaters that had been re-imagined as soccer kits. We loved them. You loved them. And now Matt Pratt, a.k.a. Majupra from reddit hockey, has completed his extreme makeover for all 30 NHL teams.
"My motivation for the project was a combination of summer boredom and having been inspired by recently being exposed to the community of fantasy logo and jersey creators during the 'what will the new Winnipeg Jets logo be?' period," said Pratt in an interview on Monday.
Pratt's a 26-year-old child-care worker from Toronto who's a self-taught graphic designer. He's been an editor at the reddit hockey community for over a year and played hockey until his mid-teens when an Achilles' tendon injury shelved him.
Which teams were the biggest challenges in his re-imagining of 30 hockey teams as footy teams? Pratt said the Vancouver Canucks throwback seen above, along with the Pittsburgh Penguins' home jersey and both jerseys for the Dallas Stars.
He said he plans on doing a few more for now-defunct teams such as the Hartford Whalers and Quebec Nordiques.
Pratt's allowed us to post all 30 teams here, and you can also view them in his personal gallery.
Attention Reebok and Shop NHL: You now have 60 templates from which to turn these soccer kits into actual puckhead wear. They look awesome. They are awesome. And if nothing else, it'll give us something NHL-centric to wear during the summer. Make it so.
