Ed. Note: We're live blogging
every hour of the NHL trade deadline until its completion at 3 p.m. EST. Older
time-stamped entries are found at the end of the post.
11:42 p.m. ET: Finally, the news you've been waiting for: Radek Dvorak on his trade to the Thrashers, via On Frozen Pond:
"If we were two points back, we don't make any changes. Things didn't go our way every night. Eight points isn't the end of the world, but this is behind me.''
Added Dvorak: With Stillman and McCabe traded, "you think 'I'm going to be next.' You just move on. Atlanta has a young team, pushing for a spot."
So who's next from Florida?
11:32 p.m. ET: New York Islanders faceoff ace/penalty minute machine Zenon Konopka is in play, chatter that the Anaheim Ducks are after him (along with other teams). Multiple sources have said a second-round pick is in play, which is frankly insane for a fourth-line rental. But good lord: Maxim Lapierre, Jarkko Ruutu, Corey Perry and Kenopka on the same team? Talk about a pain in the ass to play against.
11:22 p.m. ET: From Aaron Portzline of Puck-rakers, a look at what the Columbus Blue Jackets are looking at on their blue line:
Two other defensemen known to be on the market are Edmonton's Ladislav Smid and the New York Islanders' Radik Martinek. Of the two, Smid would probably appeal most to the Blue Jackets, but neither could be called true offensive defensemen. Martinek may shade more toward the puck-mover definition, but I'll be honest -- I have not seen much of the Islanders, and when I have, he didn't stand out.
He said they're also looking at centers to help fill the void left by Derrick Brassard's injury.
11:08 p.m. ET: According to Bob McKeznie of TSN, the Nashville Predators could be in on Ales Hemsky of the Edmonton Oilers, which is news you don't usually expect to hear from Music City about a dude making $5 million base salary next season.
But that, combined with the Mike Fisher move earlier, would certainly be a signal that this franchise is willing to spend in light of increased fan support this season. (Of course, it's also an aggressive move to solidify a playoff seed in the wild West.)
