Once again, it didn't take the Pittsburgh Penguins long to grab an early lead against the Philadelphia Flyers. Sidney Crosby needed just 15 seconds to give Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead with his second goal of the playoffs.
Later in the first period, with the Penguins on the power play and up 2-0, Kris Letang had a golden opportunity to extend the lead even more, but Ilya Bryzgalov recovered and made a dazzling glove save:
How game-changing was that? Huge, for a little while. Just 21 seconds later, with the Penguins still on the power play, Philadelphia took advantage of a rush and capitalized shorthanded with a goal by Max Talbot to cut the lead to 2-1.
Paul Martin would add a late goal to give Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead after one.
