Jersey Fouls is our ongoing exploration of the rules and etiquette for proper hockey jersey creation and exhibition. If you spot what you think may be a foul in your arena, email a photo to us at puckdaddyblog@yahoo.com for inclusion in future installment.

Awkward end to Tebowmania aside, Peyton Manning's decision to sign with the Denver Broncos has produced the expected hysteria in the Mile High City. That established, perhaps we can forgive the Foul featured here as the product of temporary insanity.

Nah ... let's condemn this as the affront to the Hockey Gods, and mankind, that it is.

Via Ian Haber and Jessica Redfield, this Colorado Avalanche fan decided to honor Peyton Manning by creating a makeshift nameplate … on his PETER FORSBERG jersey.

("Wait, what, the Bears traded for Brandon Marshall? Let me cover up this 'MIKITA' with athletic tape and head to the 'Hawks game …")

Forget the fact that this is some asinine Inter-Sport Jersey Foul — remember, honoring another sport on a hockey sweater is asinine; honoring hockey on another sport's jersey is, of course, a defiant act of punk rock.

Let's all acknowledge the simplest, basic aspect of this Foul: Manning. Is. Going. To. Wear. No. 18.

But obviously, our friend didn't have an old Adam Deadmarsh or Brandon Yip sweater in the back of the closet, so he decided to besmirch a number that the team retired a scant five months ago.

Sigh … all this Foul does is make us weep for that poor sap who's peeling off the temporary "TEBOW" nameplate from his No. 19 Avalanche jersey …
