The KHL's Gagarin Cup playoffs got under way this week with one of the matchups seeing Nikolai Zherdev's Atlant take on Niclas Bergfors' Severstal.
Early in the third period of Thursday's Game 2, Atlant defenseman (and 2005 Atlanta Thrashers draft pick) Andrei Zubarev fired a one-timer wildly away from the net and off the end boards, but little did anyone in the arena know that he quietly called "bank":
We've chronicled that goalies in the KHL are having a difficult time over there, so it's no surprise to see Vasily Koshechkin join Karri Ramo and Erik Ersberg in the bloopers of the year category.
As is protocol with these types of events, that goofy goal stood as the game winner with Atlant taking a 2-0 series lead after a 3-1 victory
