No. 1 Star: Ryan Miller, Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres' star netminder made a season-best 43 saves in shutting out the Anaheim Ducks, 2-0. He made 20 of them in the third period, when the Sabres were outshot 20-4. Derek Roy and Brad Boyes had the goals; Christian Ehrhoff had two assists.

No. 2 Star: Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks

Kane played one of his best games of the season, rallying the Blackhawks in the second period with a goal and an assist on Marian Hossa's tie-breaker, as Chicago defeated the spiraling Toronto Maple Leafs, 5-4.

No. 3 Star: Andy McDonald, St. Louis Blues

McDonald set the tone for the Blues' road victory at the Edmonton Oilers, scoring 59 seconds into the game and then again at 7:34 of the second period for a critical cushion. St. Louis won the game, 5-2, as Kevin Shattenkirk had a goal and two assists, and was a plus-3.

Honorable mention: The game of the night was in Dallas, as the Pittsburgh Penguins outlasted the Stars to win 4-3 in a shootout. Pittsburgh rallied on goals by Craig Adams and Chris Kunitz in the third period, before Michael Ryder tied the game. Pascal Dupuis scored and Ryder missed to end the shootout, as Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves. … Joffrey Lupul had a goal and an assist for the Leafs. … Marian Hossa had two goals for Chicago. … Chris Stewart scored on a penalty shot. … Corey Potter and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had the Oilers' goals. … Jaroslav Halak made 22 saves.

Fight of the Night: Not so much a fight as an embarrassing melee for the Anaheim Ducks, having already seen Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf leave with fighting majors in the final moments of their loss. All of this came after the final buzzer; Sheldon Brookbank got some stiff shots in on a one-handed Tyler Myers.

Did you know? Jonas Hiller's 23rd consecutive start in net tied the Ducks' franchise record shared by Guy Hebert and Jean-Sebastien Giguere. (AP)

Dishonorable mention: The Penguins lost Steve Sullivan to a lower body injury and Kris Letang to an upper body injury thanks to this Eric Nystrom hit. … Devan Dubnyk was pulled after three goals on 19 shots in favor of Yann Danis. … Corey Crawford was pulled after giving up three goals on 10 shots in the first period, as Ray Emery would get the win. … Ryan Smyth was given a 5-minute major and was ejected after a hit from behind on Roman Polak in the second period. Polak did return to the game. ... Finally, the Maple Leafs lost their sixth straight and 10th time in the last 11 games.
