After Chris Neil's punishing hit on Johnny Boychuk in the third period of the Ottawa Senators' loss to the Boston Bruins, Kyle Turris decided to bring some pain of his own on Joe Corvo — but he made the head the principal point of contact.
Coming up after the jump, the hit and the reaction from Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley from NESN (s/t Kukla; auto-play video warning).
Said Jack Edwards:
"Corvo's down … Turris came from behind … he came from a RIDICULOUS distance, and Turris ought to be sit and payin' for a long time … that's just chicken ... chicken is what that is … leaves his feet, suspension, Mr. Shanahan will be busy with Mr. Turris … that's just rubbish."
So, seriously, tell us how you really feel …
Turris was given two minutes for boarding on the play. One imagines he'll get additional penalties from the NHL for a hit that shouldn't happen under our 2012 protect the brain at all costs rulebook. That is, once the NHL gets over the initial shock of Kyle Turris delivering a hit.
