Here are your Puck Previews: Spotlighting the key games in NHL action, news and views as well as general frivolity. Make sure to stop back here for the nightly Three Stars when the games are finished.
Preview: Ottawa Senators at Vancouver Canucks, 10 p.m. EST. Vancouver looks for its seventh win in eight games against Ottawa. Jarkko Ruutu, former Canuck super-pest, is a healthy scratch. Said Ruutu to The White Towel: "I'm not happy at all." This really isn't the way to showcase him.
Preview: New York Rangers at Detroit Red Wings, 7:30 p.m. EST. According to the preview, Detroit was shut out in two straight games twice last season but responded with a victory in both instances. Last two games: Shut out by Columbus and Nashville. Pavel Datsyuk returns to face Marty Biron and the Rangers.
Preview: Colorado Avalanche at Phoenix Coyotes, 9:30 p.m. EST. The Avs are all excited to have Peter Forsberg join the team, whenever that might be (not tonight). John-Michael Liles said: "What I see so far, he's still got the same hands, the same feel for the game and the ability to kind of slow it down to his pace and make everyone around him better." Phoenix has outscored Colorado 16-5 in their last four wins against the Avs.
Preview: Chicago Blackhawks at Calgary Flames, 9:30 p.m. EST. The Flames are 11-3-4 since Darryl Sutter left the GM box, and that means happy vibes all around said Cory Sarich: "There's definitely a way more positive outlook throughout everybody, whether it's coaches, staff, players and I think that's maybe helped us but that also comes with winning." Chicago has made a tweak to its top-ranked power play: Swapping Marian Hossa for Troy Brouwer.
