Wednesday’s Three Stars: Price stands tall; so does Myers

No. 1 Star: Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens

Not only did Price stop all 25 shots he faced versus the Carolina Hurricanes -- he picked up an assist on Michael Cammalleri's game-winner. Everything went right for the Canadiens. They shut out the Canes, 4-0, despite missing four regular defenseman; they got PK Subban his first goal on his 52nd shot; even Scott Gomez, who was briefly tied in with Price in scoring, got an assist.

No. 2 Star: Marian Hossa, Chicago Blackhawks

After thirty minutes of fairly even hockey, Hossa went off versus the Canucks, assisting on three of the Blackhawks final four goals to stake Chicago to a 5-1 rout at Rogers Arena. He made beautiful plays on all three goals, but his effort on the backbreaking 3-1 goal, as he outraced and outmuscled Alex Edler to start a play that Jonathan Toews finishes, stands out:

No. 3 Star: Tyler Myers, Buffalo Sabres

While the Sabres would fall to the New Jersey Devils, 5-3, Myers still managed to make a statement in the loss. It was like Halloween 4, as Myers returned with a vengeance. He scored twice in just over 22 minutes of icetime.

Honourable mention: Alexei Emelin had 7 blocked shots and 7 hits for the Canadiens. The dude enjoys making contact... Ilya Kovalchuk scored in his first game back from injury and Patrick Elias added a goal and an assist in the Devils' win. Marty Brodeur made 29 saves. One of them looked like this...

Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Steve Montador all had a goal and an assist versus Vancouver... Jonas Hiller stopped 36 of 37 shots in the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Jonathan Quick wasn't as busy, but he was lights out in the shootout, stopping 6 of 7 attempts...

Did you know? Jarrett Stoll has scored on 10 of his last 12 shootouts.

Dishonourable mention: Jhonas Enroth was pulled after allowing 5 goals on 19 shots versus New Jersey... Cory Schneider allowed 5 goals on 27 shots versus Chicago.
