Giroux scored goals Nos. 10 and 11 on the season, adding an assist on Wayne Simmonds' power-play goal, in the Flyers' 5-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. He's now tied with six other players for second in the NHL in goals behind Phil Kessel.
No. 2 Star: Derek Roy, Buffalo Sabres
Down 2-0 to the Montreal Canadiens in the third period, the Buffalo forward set up Jason Pominville's one-timer in the slot and then tied to game with his own snip past Carey Price (30 saves) in the Sabres' 3-2 shootout win over the Montreal Canadiens.
No. 3 Star: Pat Dwyer, Carolina Hurricanes
It came in a losing effort, but a special nod to Dwyer of the Hurricanes for scoring two shorthanded goals in the same game. His first came with under a second left in the first period. His second came on a shorthanded penalty shot, one game after the Flyers scored one of their own by Matt Read. It was the first two-goal game of Dwyer's career, and the first time a Hurricane scored two shorties in the same game since 2006.
Honorable mention: Dustin Byfuglien, Evander Kane and Tim Stapleton each had a goal and an assist in the Winnipeg Jets' 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, ending a 5-game losing streak.
