On Saturday night in Springfield, former New York Rangers tough guy and current Columbus Blue Jackets property Dane Byers of the Falcons fought Micheal Haley of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
What happened next is an early contender for "best dude goes crazy in the AHL highlight" honors this season, as Byers excuses himself from the penalty box, throws sticks and generally acts like a loon. Enjoy:
From Michael Fornabaio of GreenwichTime.com:
That began after Springfield captain Dane Byers hit rookie defenseman Calvin de Haan up high along the boards early in the third. Hunched over, de Haan went slowly to the dressing room. The team had no update on his condition.
Micheal Haley later fought Byers, who let himself out of the penalty box when referee Graham Skilliter ejected him for smacking his stick on the penalty-box glass.
A few thoughts:
• No, please, kindly old off-ice official: Let the crazy man operate the penalty box door.
• This really needed more garment removal to reach Jim Playfair levels.
• This just reinforces our theory that any clip in which you hear the names Micheal Haley and Trevor Gillies is going to involve absolute chaos.
