No. 1 Star: Martin Biron, New York Rangers
Making just his third start of the season, Biron kept his record perfect with a 23-save 3-0 shutout of the Winnipeg Jets. Biron is now 3-0-0 on the season and has beaten Winnipeg in both meetings between the teams this season. Marian Gaborik scored twice in the third period and assisted on Derek Stepan's opening goal in the second for the Rangers' fourth straight win.
No. 2 Star: Henrik Sedin, Vancouver Canucks
In a matchup of the two Western Conference rivals it was all Vancouver in a 6-2 win. Henrik led all scorers with a goal and three assists, while brother Daniel was right behind him with a 3-point night. After letting in a soft first goal, Roberto Luongo settled in and finished with 38 saves. David Booth scored his first goal of the season and added an assist. The Canucks' power play clicked scoring on five of their six chances to tie a team record.
No. 3 Star: Jamie Benn, Dallas Stars
Benn extended his points streak to five games with two goals in Dallas' 5-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. The pair of goals also give Benn nine points in his last five games. Linemate Loui Eriksson recorded three assists, two of which on Benn's two goals and Michael Ryder added a goal and two assists. Kari Lehtonen stopped 30 shots to move to 10-1-0 on the season.
Honorable mention: Tampa Bay erased a 3-0 first period deficit against the Florida Panthers and wound up winning in a shootout 4-3 thanks to Dominic Moore's goal in the skills competition. Dwayne Roloson replaced Mathieu Garon in the first period and stopped all 29 shots he faced including this one in the dying moments of overtime on Stephen Weiss:
Mark Messier completed the New York City Marathon on Sunday in a time of 4 hours, 14 minutes and 21 seconds ... Calgary got goals from Mark Giordano and Curtis Glencross to edge the Colorado Avalanche 2-1. Miikka Kipruosoff stopped 32 shots for his seventh straight win over the Avalanche .. Dishonorable mention: The Jets failed to cash in on their four power play opportunities ... Cam Ward was pulled for the first time this season after allowing four goals on 14 shots ... Eric Staal was a minus-2 and leads the NHL at minus-16 ... The loss was Florida's third straight in the shootout ... The Avalanche are now 1-5-0 at Pepsi Center this season.
