No. 1 Star: Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning
Stamkos scored all three of his goals in the second period for his fourth career hat trick as the Lightning edged the Chicago Blackhawks in overtime 5-4. Vincent Lecavalier's sixth of the season was the overtime winner. In five games against Chicago, Stamkos has now scored seven goals. The game featured an 8-goal second period with the Blackhawks scoring three times in a 1:05 span. Stamkos' final goal came via the power play from his patented spot on the ice:
No. 2 Star: Matt Duchene, Colorado Avalanche
In a losing effort, and in the game of the night, Duchene notched his first career hat trick with a goal in the first three periods and before the Avalanche fell in overtime to the Dallas Stars 7-6. Duchene also added an assist in a wild second period that saw five goals between the teams in a 5:44 span. Like Stamkos, Duchene's final goal was his prettiest of the night:
No. 3 Star: T.J. Oshie, St. Louis Blues
Oshie scored twice and later set up David Backes' game-winning goal early in the third period as the St. Louis Blues edged the Vancouver Canucks 3-2. Brian Elliott stopped 28 saves for his fourth win in five games.
Honorable mention: Patrick Sharp (two goals) and Patrick Kane (three assists) were the big offensive contributors for the Blackhawks in the loss ... Martin St. Louis had three helpers of his own for the Lightning ... Buffalo got goals from Drew Stafford and Nathan Gerbe in a 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames. Jhonas Enroth made 29 saves to improve to 3-0-0 on the season, while Henrik Karlsson stopped 42 shots in the loss ... Behind Michal Neuvirth's 24 saves and 2-point nights from Nicklas Backstrom, Troy Brouwer and Cody Eakin, who recorded his first NHL goal and assist, the Washington Capitals shut down the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1 ... Second period goals from Erik Cole and Sergei Kostitsyn, and 33 saves from Carey Price boosted the Montreal Canadiens over the Ottawa Senators 2-1 for their fourth consecutive win ... Loui Eriksson scored twice, including the overtime winner for the Stars, while Jamie Benn recorded a 3-point night for himself ... Sheldon Souray's power play goal in the second period was the 100th of his career ... Dallas converted on three of their six power plays and improved to 7-1-0 this season when being outshot.
