Monday’s Three Stars: Kanes are able; Callahan leads Rangers

No. 1 Star: Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks

Kane scored in the first and third period and helped set up Nick Leddy's tally in the second as the Blackhawks got past the Nashville Predators 5-4 in overtime. Marian Hossa assisted on three goals and in overtime it was Viktor Stalberg making Jack Hillen look silly:

No. 2 Star: Ryan Callahan, New York Rangers

Looking for their first win at home the Rangers finished the second period strong with three goals in the final six minutes to snap San Jose's five-game win streak with a 5-2 victory. Callahan scored two of those three goals in the final frame and added an assist on Ryan McDonagh's third of the season to open the scoring. His final goal was a vintage, all-out effort from the captain:

No. 3 Star: Evander Kane, Winnipeg Jets

Kane scored twice, including the game-tying goal with 50 seconds remaining in the third period and the Jets got goals from Andrew Ladd and Kyle Wellwood in the shootout to down the Florida Panthers 4-3.

Honorable mention: Martin Biron stopped 24 shots to improve to 2-0-0 this season ... Erik Christensen, Brandon Dubinsky and Dan Girardi recorded three assists ...  Jonathan Toews was 20-for-25 in draws ... Ondrej Pavelec made 39 saves to improve to 4-0-0 when visiting the Panthers ... Marco Sturm played in his 900th NHL game ... Marcel Goc (playing in hi 400th game) won 14 of his 20 draws ... Tomas Fleischmann scored twice in the loss, including this lovely snipe:

Did you know? "The Panthers and the Jets (nee Atlanta Thrashers) played six one-goal games last season, with Atlanta winning four." (AP)

Dishonorable mention: Nik Antropov succeeded in 1 of 11 faceoff attempts ... Francis Bouillon finished minus-3 ... Duncan Keith left the game in the first period with a hand injury and did not return. He's currently listed as day-to-day ... The Blackhawks went 0-for-7 on the power play and haven't capitalized on a man advantage in their last 17 opportunities.
