Cal Clutterbuck of the Minnesota Wild entered Monday's game with the Vancouver Canucks as the NHL leader in hits with 298, and he attempted to add to that total by taking a run at Alex Burrows near the Vancouver bench in the first period.

He missed. Badly.

Boy, the one time you want a player to be mic'd up … it looked like Burrows set a world record for most chirps to an opponent in a two-second span right there.

Too bad this game wasn't in Minnesota; Clutterbuck would have still gotten credit for three hits on the play ...

Thankfully, Clutterbuck wasn't hurt and played 16:11 on the night, as it was his first game back after suffering a concussion on that Trevor Gillies hit four games ago.

His skates also came dangerously close to becoming another entry on The Completely Bizarre Hockey Injuries of Sami Salo list. Instead, Salo took the more traditional injury route, hurting his elbow on a blocked shot at the end of the first period. He didn't return in the 4-2 Vancouver win. Sami Salo, injury. Water wet. Pope Catholic. We know.
