The good news for Anaheim Ducks forward Jason Blake is that he's expected to make a full recovery after Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks accidentally stepped on his arm Friday night causing a severe cut.

Here's the video of the play:

Sutures were put in place last night and the bad news is that Blake suffered a lacerated tendon and will undergo surgery on his wrist on Monday. He'll be out of action for three months.

From the Ducks:

"Jason is resting at home and doing very well," said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. "This was an unfortunate, freak accident, but we are pleased to hear that Jason is expected to make a full and complete recovery. He's a real character person and teammate, and we look forward to having him back in our lineup when he's ready."

Burns spoke to reporters this morning after the Sharks' morning skate about the incident.

From David Pollak of the Mercury News:

"It was a weird, freak play — the battle in the faceoff and I didn't really know he fell right away. He was kind of behind me, the puck was there and I was trying to kick the puck up and I think he was trying to get the puck. It was just a battle and I didn't even know he was on the ground."

Burns also said that he saw Blake right before he was taken away in an ambulance.
