Puck Headlines: Sean Avery selling LA home; Steckel on Semin

• According to The Real Estalker (great name), New York Rangers star Sean Avery has priced his 1,607-square-foot, 2 bedroom/2.5 bath Los Angeles house to sell at $859,000. However, "several months ago he listed the humble and quirky casa with an asking price of $929,000"; according to the blog, Avery slashed the price by nearly 10 percent after his recent unpleasantness with the LAPD, adding that "even at a full price sale Mister Avery stands to lose $130,000, not counting the real estate fees." [Real Estalker]

• The Blue Jackets have signed veteran defenseman Fedor Tyutin to a six-year, $27 million contract extension. Which is a higher cap hit that John-Michael Liles and Mark Streit. [Puck-Rakers]

• "Former Flyer Fedoruk battles 'demons' to get back." Sadly, this is not a story about how good he became at playing "Quake." [CSN Philly]

• Former Washington Capitals forward David Steckel backs up ex-Cap Matt Bradley's critique of Alex Semin: "I mean, it's Brads. It's not like he's somebody breaking into the league telling things that nobody knows about already. He's an elder statesman in the league; he's been around and he's in a different organization now. The transcript I read, there was nothing there that shocking at all, that blew me away." [Capitals Insider]

• Mullet-Gate continues for Kings and Oilers. [Edmonton Journal]

• The Hamilton Bulldogs are planning on facing the Toronto Marlies in an outdoor AHL game at Ivor Wynne Stadium. If they sell out the game they would "smash the all-time American Hockey League attendance record of 21,508 set in an outdoor game a couple years ago in Syracuse. It would also blow away the attendance total of 10,300 for an outdoor game held at Ivor Wynne in April 2005 during the National Hockey League lockout." [Hamilton Spec]

• Jim Matheson isn't down with the JVR signing for the Philadelphia Flyers: "The Flyers are looking for cost certainty with van Riemsdyk, getting him for an average salary of $4.25 million. Paying him too much, certainly, at the front-end and hoping he's underpaid if he suddenly becomes an 80-90 point player in two or three years. But, this six year, $25.5 million deal is still a big gulp for a kid who hasn't proven a whole lot." [Edmonton Journal]

Mike Fisher has a book coming up next month that "chronicles his faith and his hockey career." He's also become a model for Under Armour Performance Clothing. The camouflage division.  [Country Weekly via SCOC]

• On anxiety about Drew Doughty's status: "I can understand the anxiety about getting this deal done soon, but from Lombardi's perspective there is much less of a rush.  Even if this goes on into the season it's not a huge issue in the long run.  The bigger issue is getting it done right rather than getting it done soon.  What would you rather have, Doughty for all 82 games this season and have him signed to a 5 year contract, or Doughty for 60 games this season and get him signed to a (reasonable) 9 year contract?  Of course you would rather have Doughty locked up long term, so just try to remember that as you hit refresh non-stop on the Kings website this afternoon" [Pro Sports Blogging]

Jeanneret, the longest-tenured play-by-play announcer in NHL history, and Hawerchuk, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, were selected based on their outstanding contributions to the sport of hockey and the Buffalo Sabres organization. The pair will officially be inducted as the 36th and 37th members of the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame during a ceremony before the team's game against the Winnipeg Jets on November 8." [Sabres]
