It was one of those 'blink-and-you-missed-it' moments, but apparently Jarome Iginla made an incredible pass to win Canada the gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. To help give this accomplishment its due, Justin Chiu has recreated it in glorious stop-motion … with a rod hockey table.
Having been on press row for that moment, I appreciate the attention to detail: The U.S. players sulking in the background as Team Canada mobbed Sidney Crosby; the fans watching on the big screen outside the arena; the young Asian girl towering over the rink, like it was the Lilliputian Winter Games. (Wait, WTF?)
A noble effort to be sure, but there are just so many other incredible hockey moments that could have been recreated here: John Carlson's goal to win 2010 World Juniors … Mike Eruzione's goal against the Russians in 1980 … any of the Stanley Cup-clinching goals since 1993.
Sigh … we'll just have to settle for the Miracle on Nintendo Ice Hockey:
