Puck Headlines: Talbot on Pens fans; Ramsay mad at Jets

Here are your Puck Headlines: a glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• JERSEY FOULS back on Friday. Tell a friend. This one's from Mike and Ash: "Duke Nukem was a lame computer game from the early computer era where a guy goes around killing German soldiers...what this has to do with hockey is beyond me."

Max Talbot blogs about his signing with the Philadelphia Flyers and how Penguins fans will react to his return to the Steel City in orange and black: "I don't know how I will be welcomed, but no one can take away the energy that I gave to the team and all that we accomplished together." He also thinks "that the Flyers see me pretty much like an Ian Laperrière." [Pensburgh]

• "Yinz covering the Casey Anthony verdict?" [PSAMP]

• Adam Proteau on the St. Louis Blues snagging Jamie Langenbrunner and Jason Arnott, and the value of adults on the room in places like Washington. [THN]

• Eric Duhatschek's random thoughts on free agency: "The Buffalo Sabres are deeper on defence, with Christian Ehrhoff and Robyn Regehr, but Ville Leino in for Tim Connolly isn't much of an upgrade at forward." [Globe & Mail]

• Assuming Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik are linemates, who plays on their left wing? Sean Avery is among the suspects. [NYDN]

• Craig Ramsay officially joins the Florida Panthers as an assistant coach, but doesn't go quietly from the former Thrashers franchise. Ramsay on the Winnipeg Jets and their lack of information about the coaching staff's future: "The fact that they dragged it out meant there were jobs that were going by the wayside while we were under the assumption that perhaps Winnipeg was interested in bringing our group along. It was a month or more just sitting by the phone waiting for things to happen while you are under obligation not to talk to other teams because of tampering charges. (General manager) Rick Dudley was at least let go right away so he could go about his business, but you have good people like (assistant coaches) Mike Stothers and John Torchetti and the training staff sitting there waiting for some indication as to what was going on." [Sportsnet]

• Stat Nerd Alert: The worst player in the NHL for adjusted plus/minus? David Booth of the Florida Panthers. [The Puck Stops Here]

• Nice piece by Kent Wilson on the offensive decline by Dany Heatley, which is the stuff of nightmares for Minnesota Wild fans. [Houses of the Hockey]

• By far the oddest story of the day: Manitoba wants to use recycled shower water to make their ice rinks. Plus side: Environmentally friendly solution to a water usage problem. Minus side: Random hairs. [CP]

• Are the Nashville Predators going with a third D-pairing with no NHL experience? [On The Forecheck]

• Travis Hughes on the cruel reality of Philadelphia Flyers prospects camp: "This is boring. Yep, today was honestly my first prospect camp experience, and I have to say that after four hours of standing against a wall watching a bunch of kids run through drills, I haven't exactly come away with any more knowledge or anything poignant to say." [Broad Street Hockey]

• You know, the Russell twins really don't get the same type of coverage as the Sedins. So here's a piece on the Columbus Blue Jackets acquiring Ryan Russell, the twin-bro of defenseman Kris Russell. [The Cannon]

• Nice video from the folks at Gongshow Gear (a Puck Daddy Radio sponsor in the past). Spot the NHLers shot-gunning beer!

Sidney Crosby's foundation builds a room for teens in Halifax. [Penguins]

• Former Penguin Chris Conner signs with the Detroit Red Wings. [Winging It]

Phoenix Coyotes general manager Don Maloney announced Thursday that the Coyotes have promoted Sean Burke to director of player development/goaltending coach. In his new role, Burke will be responsible for all off-season amateur player development including overseeing the Coyotes development camp and monitoring amateur player development during the season. He will also continue in his role as goaltending coach for the Coyotes. [Coyotes]

Vancouver Canucks president and general manager Mike Gillis announced Thursday that the Canucks have signed defenseman Alexander Sulzer. Sulzer, 27, split the 2010-11 season between the Nashville Predators, recording four points (1-3-4) in 31 games, and the Florida Panthers, collecting one point (0-1-1) in nine games. He also fills the team's German-born defenseman quota after the departure of Christian Ehrhoff. [Canucks]

• Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced Thursday the Sabres have signed goaltender Drew MacIntyre, and forwards Derek Whitmore and Colin Stuart all to one-year deals.

• Advice to Dallas Stars fans on how to survive the Bradpocolyse. [Pegasus News]

• BLOG STUFF: Tapeleg explains the results of the Dead Blog Challenge. [Jerseys and Hockey Love]

• Finally, we have no idea what made someone revisit this Chicago Blackhawks vs. Detroit Red Wings video. But at the 7-second mark, they claim a linesman materializes out of nowhere. Upon further examination, there does to be a trace of purple smoke and a small "BAMF!" in a cartoon bubble.
